Abstract

Co-investigator(s): Dr. Zachary A. Collier, Mr. Thomas L. Polmateer, University of Virginia

Assessing and managing current and emerging risks is a critical programmatic function for the microelectronics supply chain. However, there is a lack of ready-to-use models that facilitate risk-informed decision making. The technical challenges arise in complexity of microelectronics manufacturing and their interconnected supply chains. An NDIA Trust and Assurance Committee developed an initial iteration of a risk assessment workbook tool based on programmatic risk assessment, supplier risk assessment, and countermeasure assessment. The CHEST project will build on this particular ongoing effort of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Electronics Division’s Trust and Assurance Committee. The resulting model and tool will support the CHEST partners and the microelectronics manufacturing industry to assess risks and identify countermeasures which reduce residual risk to acceptable levels. The project will convene a working group of experts to collaboratively develop and transition the model to industry and government users.
